Cantering

In all honesty, the village of Cantering would have neither a purpose nor the ability to exist were it not for one woman: Marlee Washburn. Her thriving horse ranch is the sole destination for outsiders coming to visit the bustling hamlet, and the primary or secondary source of 100 percent of the town’s commerce.

The village lies a mere 15 miles to the southeast of the Ruby Tower, in the rolling meadows of Tasseldale. Most of the inhabitants have a great fondness for Lady Washburn, who acts as the local matriarch in all disputes and emergency matters. Her relationship with the Ruby Tower is such that all of the locals are familiar with the guild and treat its members with a degree of respect, if not deference.

In turn, Marlee is very grateful to the Ruby Tower, as they are always quick to respond when monstrous incursions threaten the tiny settlement. Many surmise that she is close friends with one or more of the Syndicate’s founding members, but thus far no one has summoned the gall to pry into her personal matters.
